Hi Reader, I’m not gonna hold you. Postpartum, this administration (I know some of you may have voted differently than me—stay in it, this isn’t a ‘bashing’ session—I think we’re on the same page…), and summer time are kicking my tail. This past week, my mom took over full-time grandma duties, and it’s been a JOY to see her so happy and connecting with sweet Josie. As many of you read in my NYT Bestselling memoir, “Nothing is Missing,” I don’t have the ‘perfect’ relationship with my mom. Growing up in America, as a first-generation immigrant and with a mother who did her absolute best under the pressures of poverty, we struggled and faced challenges that created trauma. After years of figuring out how to love each other well and learning new boundaries and communication, it’s kind of beautiful to come full circle and watch her love sweet Josie so well. I know I’m not the only one who has a whole new appreciation for their mother after pregnancy. The opportunity to have support, multiplied love, and new memories is one I recognize as a rare blessing. Friends, my mom is an immigrant—she comes from Ghana, West Africa. So many of you have enjoyed my stories of my mom’s sayings, antics, and hilariously endearing accent. However, we found out this past week that the current administration is discussing placing her birth country—Ghana—on the latest ‘travel ban’ list. Now, we don’t have a ton of time (I promised y’all a quick note!), so I won’t go into the whys and whats of politics, but I think we can all relate to and connect to the importance of Grandmas in our families and hardworking, contributing, family-oriented, dream-chasing immigrants being the cornerstone of what makes America, America. Things aren’t aligned with what this administration promised during the election—we all know this—and the current policy (and especially how it’s being carried out) is harming the fabric that makes our country so special. It’s putting fear into everyday people about preserving beautiful moments like Josie dancing with her Grandma for the first time. No matter how you voted- I know you are all for family (cause that’s our thing here)- and if you can find a moment to reach out to your representative and let them know “You want to protect and preserve immigrants in America that deserve to be here- and a path to citizenship given to them, not a focus on deportation quotas.” It takes about 5 minutes, makes a difference, and the number is below: https://5calls.org/getting-started/ Later this month on the “Tell Me More” podcast, we’ll be meeting a friend of our community who came to this country as an undocumented immigrant, and can tell us more from their perspective about what it’s like to build the American Dream. Drop me a note on your greatest grandma/mama moments or any thoughts you have on immigration or the American Dream, I’d love to (anonymously) share them with our community! Sending love, Nicole PODCAST A Conversation That’ll Hit HomeWhen Margo Graff told me she was a Sugar Baby, I responded with TELL ME MORE! Friend, put all judgments aside for this week’s chat with Margo as she shares her philosophy behind women receiving everything they deserve. You know, I didn’t hold back in understanding how Margo became a sugar baby and what that lifestyle really looks like in 2025. Even if you don’t agree with the choice to be a Sugar Baby, I truly believe there is something to learn from every person and every chat we have on the Tell Me More podcast. ️🎧 Listen Here BUSINESS HAPPENINGS Let's Get AlignedFriend, I’ve got so many exciting things in the works—from VIP Days to hands-on coaching to new digital tools—but I don’t believe in sending you stuff you don’t want (or need).
